Mid-life. Middle-age. It's where I am. And you know what I'm thinking? This mid-life thing. It’s not a crisis. It’s an opportunity. A gift. We can apply all the anti-aging creams, try all the anti-aging lifestyle regimes, swallow all the anti-aging pills, whatever. But guess what? We're still gonna do it! It's still gonna happen.
We don't really talk about it - we try to avoid it. Well, I want to talk about it. Shine the light on us. On our experience. Our journey. Our wrinkles.
It's time to teach our children (and, for some of us, grand-children) - to age is okay. It is actually normal! And, for the love of what's good and true - it's better than the alternative.
Let's talk about it! Let's say those dirty words midlife and aging. Accepting our natural aging journey would relieve us of so much anxiety, not to mention save us a LOT of money. And we could talk about how to support each other and make the journey Twice As Alive!!
THIS is what I want for us (thank you, Brené Brown):
"I think midlife is when the universe gently places her hands upon your shoulders, pulls you close, and whispers in your ear... Time is growing short. There are unexplored adventures ahead of you. You can't live the rest of your life worried about what other people think. You were born worthy of love and belonging. Courage and daring are coursing through you. You were made to live and love with your whole heart. It's time to show up and be seen."
Come on, my friends - let's DO this!!!
